Dr. Chun-Rui Ray Zhao, MD

Dr. Chun-Rui Ray Zhao, MD, is a primary care physician serving patients of all ages and stages. He has significant experience in providing high-quality care to older adults, but very much enjoys working with children and adolescents and whole families. He is currently accepting new primary care patients at the Harbor Care Health and Wellness Center.

Dr. Zhao received his diploma of medicine and M.D. from Hebei Medical University in Shijiazhuang, China. He then continued his studies within the graduate program in microbiology-virology and immunology at the school of the Chinese Academy of Preventative Medicine in Beijing.

From 1991 to 1995, Dr. Zhao was a post-doctoral research associate in the Department of Microbiology at the University of Connecticut Health Center in Farmington. From 1995 to 1998 he was a research associate with the Biological Research Center and Department of Biology at Boston University. Beginning in 1998, Dr. Zhao worked at Harvard Medical School in Boston, as a Fellow at the Joslin Diabetes Center and Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, then in the department of surgery at Brigham and Women’s Hospital. From 2000 to 2002 he was Research Supervisor for Surgical Research Laboratory in the Department of Surgery at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska.  

Dr. Zhao completed his internship and residency in family medicine at Creighton University Medical Center in Omaha, Nebraska in 2005, before completing fellowships in geriatric medicine at both the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center and the Jesse Brown Veterans Affairs Medical Center. In 2006, he studied in a fellowship program in hospice and palliative medicine at Rush University Medical Center and the John Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County in Chicago, Illinois.   

Dr. Zhao holds a diploma from the American Board of Family Medicine, a Certificate of Added qualification in Geriatric Medicine, a Certificate in Hospice and Palliative Medicine, and a diploma from the America Board of Post-Acute and Long-Term Care Medicine. 

Dr. Zhao moved to New Hampshire in 2007. Since then, he has served as a physician in Nashua in the Roger Dionne M.D. Senior Center, the Home Health and Hospice, and in-patient rehab at St. Joseph Hospital. He was Staff Physician and Medical Director for years at Courville at Nashua, Greenbriar Terrace in Nashua, at Fairview Healthcare in Hudson,and at Genesis Healthcare / Crestwood Center in Milford.
